Karrie's Priorities
A Strong Economy
Karrie knows that the top priority of every voter is making sure that not only can they make ends meet, but how they can thrive and support themselves and their families. As we come out of the pandemic, she knows it is critical for workers and small business owners to get back on their feet.
As our delegate, Karrie is an advocate for creating a strong economy through innovation and entrepreneurship. Karrie believes that Virginia can be both the best state for business and the best state for workers. She has fought for and protected minimum wage increases, sought to prevent wage theft, and supported measures to bring new business to Virginia. She is committed to fighting for paid medical, family, and sick leave for all Virginians, collective bargaining rights, and workforce development training to
ensure workers are prepared for the future of work.

A World Class Education
As a mom with elementary-age children, Karrie wants Virginia to be home to the best schools in the nation. She knows that the best way to set our kids up for success later in life is by investing in their education.
Throughout her time in the General Assembly, Karrie has voted in favor of raising teacher pay, investing in school infrastructure, and universal Pre-K. One of her top legislative priorities continues to be addressing the literacy crisis, because she knows the ability to read is the most critical factor in determining success across all subjects, as well as later in life.

Quality, Affordable Healthcare
Quality, affordable access to healthcare should be a right for every Virginian, not a privilege. One of Karrie's top accomplishments in the House of Delegates was the 2018 expansion of Medicaid to over 550,000 Virginians, but she knows that is just a first step to addressing the healthcare needs of Virginia.
That's why Karrie has consistently fought to lower the cost of prescription drugs, including capping the cost of insulin, to require insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions, and to end surprise medical billing. Karrie is committed to using her time in Richmond to ensure that every Virginian has access to affordable healthcare.

Protecting the Environment
We only have one planet, and right now catastrophic harm is being done to it. Karrie knows that we need to take action now in order to make sure there is a planet to pass along to our kids. Protecting the environment is also a vehicle for forward thinking job creation, which is why Karrie has supported the Virginia Clean Economy Act, patroned legislation to make it easier for HOA residents to install solar panels, and has championed bills ensuring we don't leave behind communities who rely on coal and fuel economies.
As former chair and current member of the Innovation subcommittee on the Transportation committee, Karrie has been a leader on exploring and investing in green transportation and technologies such as electric car infrastructure and expanding public transit access.

Standing Up Against Injustice
Before running for office, Karrie worked with kids in foster care and as a sexual assault crisis counselor. She saw firsthand how policies that were passed without input from these vulnerable communities could end up doing more harm than good, and ultimately decided to run for office to be a voice for those in need.
Karrie has and will continue to stand up for those who are in the greatest need of protection. Some of her proudest accomplishments having been passing the Equal Rights Amendment, discrimination protections for the LGBTQ+ community, expanding voting rights to make Virginia a leader in the South, and abolishing the death penalty. She knows that these victories continue to be under attack and will always fight to protect and expand them.
