    (RICHMOND, VA) - Delegate Karrie Delaney (D-67) successfully championed HB 1524, a bill that would combat a little-understood and pervasive method of human trafficking in Virginia. HB 1524 is a recommendation of the Crime Commission after extensive study of the problem of human trafficking in Virginia and aims to end the illicit massage industry in Virginia and put traffickers that run those establishments behind bars.

Her portfolio of passed legislation includes comprehensive reform and protections for survivors of sexual assault, commonsense green economy bills, and measures to protect students across the Commonwealth.

  • Delegate Delaney focuses on providing accessibility to information and services available to veterans in Virginia

    (RICHMOND, VA) HB 411, introduced by Delegate Karrie Delaney (D-Chantilly), has passed the House of Delegates. The bill requires that the Department of Motorized Vehicles offer information on veterans services that are available in the Commonwealth to those who identify as a veteran on a document that is submitted to the DMV.

  • Green Job Creation Tax Credit Extension (HB 408) Passes House of Delegates

    HB 408, which is championed by Delegate Karrie Delaney (D-Chantilly) has passed out of the House of Delegates and is heading to the Senate. and would extend the sunset date for the Green Job Creation Tax Credit, The legislation extends the Green Job Creation Tax Credit to 2026. This provision provides a  business that creates a green job with a $500 tax credit for each new job created. This tax credit further incentivizes Virginia’s transition to a greener economy.

    (CHANTILLY, VA) - Delegate Karrie Delaney has filed an impactful set of bills designed to expand protections and healthcare services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Delegate Delaney has worked with stakeholders from across the victims’ advocate and forensic nursing community and has responded with a package of comprehensive reforms that aim to make it easier for victims of violence to receive the justice they deserve. Her package includes an expansion of the definition of domestic violence, increased funding for medical costs incurred by survivors of sexual assault at a hospital, and new protocols for the treatment of sexual assault survivors in the Commonwealth’s hospitals.

  • Virginia Law Makers Call for Toll Freeze for Federal Workers Commuting to Work Without Pay During Shutdown

    RICHMOND, Va. -- 15 members for the Virginia General Assembly are calling for toll relief for furloughed federal workers who are still commuting on Virginia toll roads to go to their unpaid jobs. Virginia is the 6th most affected state by the government shutdown, and also has some of the highest tolls in the Northern Virginia region.
